Ruby on Rails Developer

beRecruited is looking for a well-rounded and talented developer to make an immediate impact on technology-driven products that help hundreds of thousands of student athletes get in to and afford a higher education.

We are seeking a talented developer with web development experience and interest. This is a full-time, on-site position in San Francisco, CA. We offer a fun, fast-paced environment and the opportunity to grow with a successful early-stage company. The rewards of helping over 1.25 million users is something to expect on a daily basis.

Definitely get in touch if you: 
Combine a strong overall computer science background with a passion for web development, particularly Ruby on Rails (and familiarity with Perl). You're equally at home writing complex SQL queries, architecting scalable rails services, and building beautiful html/css/javascript interfaces. You've demonstrated your abilities writing top-quality web or open source software. You have a strong product sense and excellent technical judgement.

Requirements: 

  • 2+ years of work experience in software development
  • 2+ years of Ruby on Rails development
  • Strong understanding of web standards, front-end web programming, and full stack engineering
  • Experience with scaling and security
  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Experience with Git and version control
  • Experience with Capistrano (or general familiarity with deployment tools)

Customer Service Coordinator

beRecruited, the nation’s largest online college athletics recruiting platform, is looking for a hard-working, creative and energetic Marketing & Customer Service Intern in Atlanta. 

As a Marketing & Customer Service Intern, you will get first-hand experience of what it takes to grow and serve users for an online, sports-focused business, with a focus on retaining customers and keeping them happy and engaged. You’ll be the face of the network as you answer questions, implement and maintain customer service tools and build out original content that assists athletes. During your internship, you'll be working with an experienced 6-person team that has worked at ESPN, The US Olympic Training Center, Digg.com and Yardbarker.com. We’re big on developing talent, and we look forward to helping you grow your career in any way we can.

In addition, we’ll give the right candidate the opportunity to contribute to our customer acquisition programs, including increasing our social media presence, blogging, and more. To start, this is a 15-20 hour a week part-time job.

Responsibilities: 

  • Answer customer service emails from athletes and parents
  • Document and highlight recently committed athletes
  • Assist public relations team with creating relevant information to be featured on Facebook & Twitter
  • Develop content to be available to athletes, including: recruiting advice, training tips and financial aid info
  • Contributing to developing new promotional ideas and providing feedback on current product offerings & website improvements 

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from an undergraduate Communications, Marketing, or Business program.  Engineering coursework a plus!
  • Passion for helping high school students and their families find the ideal college
  • Passion for and experience with social media, especially Facebook, Twitter, blogging and forums.
  • Excellent writing skills (you will be answering customer service emails, writing long-form blogs and short-form tweets!)
  • Experience with Zendesk, Get Satisfaction or similar customer service tools is a plus
  • Strong sense of self-motivation and drive - unless you are a self-starter, you will not do well in this role.
  • The desire to be a part of the success of an early-stage company.
